Good Showing for Piebalgas at S9 Draft

Piebalgas Produces Future Stars!


The S9 LSHL Draft took place today and 5 of the top 10 picks were players from Piebalgas Lauvas, proving that they are the best JHL development team in the league. Coming off their championship victory, many of their players were scouted heavily for the draft and they produced three 1st round picks including the #1 overall pick! It was a proud day for Piebalgas Lauvas organization. Now let's take a closer look at the 5 players taken in the top 10 of the draft.

#1 Tonijs Montana: The great Tonijs Montana was the 1st player taken in the draft and is a gauranteed superstar. Liepājas Plēsoņas recognized his talent and made sure they selected him, knowing he will be a clutch goal scorer for them for years to come. He showed his skills in the playoffs for Piebalgas, winning the series for them over Milzi with some huge performances. Now he'll take his talents to Liepajas and become a cornerstone part of the organization.

#5 Esa Hulkonen: Big bad Esa Hulkonen was taken 5th overall by Rigas Trieciens and was the 2nd player from Piebalgas taken in the 1st round. Rigas was impressed with Hulkonen's game and work ethic this season and could not pass on him when he was available at the 5th pick. They know they'll be getting a huge beast of a defenseman and future star in the league. Esa's physical play and offensive instincts are almost gauranteed to translate to the LSHL, excellent pick.

#6 Lasse Lamella: Taken 1 pick after his teammate by Oslo Wild Cats, the great Lasse Lamella could be considered a steal at 6. One of the most talented forwards in the draft, he had a huge year and playoffs for Piebalgas. He's got a ton of skill and works hard to improve his game each week. Lamella could have been a top 3 pick, but Oslo is very luck to get him at 6.

#9 Ivo Subban: Another pick by Oslo, this time at 9, they take Piebalgas offensive defenseman Subban who is quickly becoming a star in the league. Subban is a speedy puck moving defenseman who is also capable of playing physical if needed and was a huge help to Piebalgas in their run to the championship. Great pick.

#10  Klaudijs Šīferis: The Piebalgas centerman was taken 10th by Sauldas Meteors and was the 5th Lauvas player taken in the top 10. Strong on face offs and super skilled in shooting, Sifers is a future star in the league and Sauldas could not let him slip any further in the draft. He will be an excellent player in future seasons and was awesome for Piebalgas this season.

It was an excellent showing for Piebalgas in the S9 Draft. Many other of their players were taken later, but these 5 players taken in the top 10 is impressive. It is not every year that one team produces so many future stars. GM Jogurtaa has done an excellent job devloping these players and should be very proud.
